Neeti Mohan is an Indian playback singer. She is very popular for her songs. She is the lyric writer and also composes music for the songs. She is popularly known for her songs “Jiya Re” from the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and “Ishq Wala Love” from the movie Student of the Year.

Neeti Mohan was born on 18 November 1979. She is 39 years old. She was born as Neeti Mohan Sharma in Delhi, India. She was born into a middle-class Hindu family with their roots in music.

Neeti Mohan belongs to a Brahmin family. Her father name is Brij Mohan Sharma, is a government employee and her mother Kusum Mohan, and is a home-maker.

She has three younger sisters namely Shakti Mohan, Mukti Mohan, and Kriti Mohan. Neeti, along with her sisters, grew up in a strict and disciplined environment.

She had done her schooling in Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilano. She completed her higher studies in Miranda House, University of Delhi, located in New Delhi. She is a graduate of B.A (Hons.) in Philosophy.

In her childhood, their family used to travel to Iskon Temple, in Vrindavan. She had grown up watching the devotees of Lord Krishna playing mridangam, singing, and dancing, which inspired her a lot.

She initiated in learning music at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, where she learned Hindustani Classical music for a decade. During the time, she involved in dramatics, dancing and considered singing as a serious hobby.

During her school days, she was part of the school band. She participated in the Delhi Republic Day parade for five years. She took part in various extra-curricular activities such as singing, dancing, performing in the band and theatre.

She was declared as the best cadet in the National Cadet Corps of India and also represented India as Youth Exchange Programmer Cadet. She performed in various singing competitions and won the prizes.

She was too active in co-curricular activities in her college days and actively participated in cultural programs and National Cadet Corps (NCC). Later, she learned music from Bhatkhande Music Institute and then got trained in Mumbai with Rajashree Pathak, for five years.

Apart from singing, she is also a trained dancer in Bharata Natyam and Kathak under the supervision of Ashley Lobo. She also worked as an instructor in her dance school. She learned to dance with her sisters.

She used to listen to the music and songs of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. In 2005, she made her debut in Bollywood as an actress with the movie “Socha Na Tha”. She started her career in singing with a solo track “Ja Ja”, which was released in 2012.

In the same year, she sang the song “Ishq Wala Love” from the movie Student of the Year and followed it by singing another track “Jiya Re” from the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Both the songs brought up her with a huge fan following and earned her many awards and accolades.

She noticed that A.R.Rahman called her to record the song, which he composed, she showed a lot of wit in the shows she did with him, and the song features a brave girl.

Eventually, she sang songs like “Nazar Laye” in 2013, “Darbadar” and “Tu Hi Tu” in 2014 and “Mohabbat Buri Bimari” in 2015.

In 2003, she participated in the third season of the “Channel V Popstars” contest and became the co-winner. Before she started her profession in music, she joined the band named “Aasma” and then moved to Mumbai to start her music career.

In 2009, Mohan participated in the Star Plus show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla, where she was part of the winning team “Shankar’s Rockstars” led by Shankar Mahadevan.

In 2016, she has been the mentor of the singing reality show “The Voice India Kids” along with Shaan and Shekar Ravjaini. In the same year, she gave a voice for the title track of “Yeh Hai Aashiqui” Season 4.

Neeti made her singing debut not only in Bollywood but also in various languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, and Gujarati.

She made her singing debut in Telugu Film Industry with a song “Viyyalavaru” from the movie Tadakha, “Korishna Rangbaazi” in Bengali, “Hello Mister” in Kannada, “Thiruda Thiruda” and “Star Jolykkuthendru” in Tamil, “Rom Com” in Gujarati, and “Dhooan Ha Dhooan” in Marathi.

Neeti Mohan has participated in charity events and social causes. In June 2016, she has been part of the Smile Foundation’s charity gala dinner, to support the cause of empowerment of underprivileged children and youth.

In October 2014, she performed at the “Hum Hain Umeed E Kashmir” concert in Ballia, in an appeal for donation to support rehabilitation of those who suffered during the Kashmir flood.

In January 2017, she merged with United Nations on a project aimed at empowering women, ending human trafficking and promoting gender equality.

In 2017, she recorded the Star Parivaar hymn of the year, “Khoobsurat Star Parivaar” alongside Jubin Nautiyal. She had also performed two songs for the web series “Mixtape” produced by the T-series music label.

She often credits her college for shaping her career as a singer. She considers the song “Dhadaam Dhadaam” as the toughest song ever of her career.

She received a positive response from the music critics for the six jazzy songs in Amit Trivedi’s Bombay Velvet in 2015. In 2016, she received her second nomination to Film fare with the song “Sau Aasman” by Baar Dekho.

Neeti Mohan revealed her love story in the “The Kapil Sharma Show”, Neeti and her boyfriend Nihaar appeared as guests. The couple confirmed that they are scheduled to get married on Valentine’s Day, February 14 in the presence of family and friends.

During the show, Nihar reveals that he was in love with Neeti even before their first meeting. A friend of him was a member of Aasma, the band that Neeti started her career with. He asked him several times to introduce them to each other, but that never happened in his life.

Coincidentally, he met her in Goa at the same friend’s wedding almost a year ago, and that’s when their love story started and now ready to marry each other.

Nihar also reveals how he proposed to Neeti. He says, “We were taking a stroll around my farmhouse, and upon reaching a pre-decided spot under a tree, I went down on one knee and asked her, ‘Tu shaadi karegi mujhse?’ and at that very moment, a shower of flowers happened,” reports Mumbai Mirror.

Neeti has always been passionate about her mother’s jewels. She was gifted a gold pendant with her name on it by her mother after she cleared her 10th standard examination.

She is a dog lover. She has a beagle named Frodo. She is an eco-friendly and very particular about cleanliness and hygiene. She doesn’t use plastic bottles and has kept a dustbin in her car.

After keeping their relationship under wraps for a year, they both are getting ready for their wedding ceremony in February 2019. The lovebirds are set to tie a knot on this Valentine’s Day.

Unfortunately Neeti Mohan’s Father was not present at the wedding he had to admit in the hospital ICU.

Neeti’s sister Mukti Mohan said as, “Dad cannot take too much physical stress, so we had kept him in the hotel room. He was not to be seen at the mandap and people freaked out. We had called the doctors to the hotel room and they suggested that he should be shifted to the hospital.”

Neeti and Nihar had planned for hosting a reception in Hyderabad at Four Season’s Hotel. But the newlyweds decided to postpone the reception.
