She is born to Sushil Patel and Anjan Patel on March 29, 1972. She is 47 years 3 months(As on July 2019). Her parents are immigrants of Uganda who are from Gujarat, India. She holds British Nationality. She is brought up in South Harrow and Ruislip.
She did her schooling from Watford Grammer School for Girls. She did her Sociology and Social Anthropology from Keele University. She did her post-graduate from the University of Essex.
In the year 2000, when Patel was 28 years old she joined Weber Shandwick, a PR consulting firm. Patel was one of the seven Shandwick employees who worked on BAT (British American Tobacco) which was a major account.
This team had been given a task to help BAT manage the company’s public image. This happened while the controversy around the Burma factory being used as the source of funds by its military dictatorship and poor payment to the factory employees. The crisis had ended with BAT pulling out of Burma in 2003.
