Shubman Gill Biography
Shubman Gill is an Indian cricketer who was born on 8th September 1999 in Fazilka, Panjab, India. He had done his schooling at Manva Mangal Smart School, Mohali, Punjab, and Pursuing Graduation.
Shubam father’s name is Lakhwinder Singh Gill and mother’s name is Keart Gill and his Sister’s name is Shahneel Gill (elder). Shubam’s father also wanted to become a cricketer but never got the opportunity.
At a very young age, shubman started playing cricket. He grew up by seeing Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid on television which aspired him to be a cricketer.
After seeing the interest of Shubman towards cricket, his family moved from Fazilka to Mohali where he rented a house near the Punjab cricket association IS Bindra Stadium.
CRICKET CAREER
At the age of 11, he was selected in under-16 Punjab cricket team to play at a district level. In his debut series, he scored maximum runs of 330 in five games and made a record. In 2014, he scored more than 200 runs in his first Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 Punjab state level match.
He has also scored 351 runs in the inter-district under-16 Punjab cricket tournament ML Markam trophy and at the district level, he started a world record opening partnership of 587 runs along with Nirmal Singh.
In 2017, he created his list a debut against the Vidarbha cricket team in Delhi. In the same year, he got selected in the under-19 cricket team and played his first match against England in the Youth ODI series. In this series, he scored 351 runs and became the man of the series.
He had also chosen as the vice-captain for the 2018 Under-19 cricket World cup. In 2018, Kolkata knight riders (KKR) brought him for Rs 1.8 crore for the 2018 INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (IPL) auction. He always slip his red handkerchief into his pocket while playing the cricket.
He was honored with the ‘M.A. Chidambaram Trophy’ from the BCCI for the best under-16 cricketer for his successful season 2013-2014.
He was draw-up into India’s under-19 side as the vice-captain for the 2018 under-19 cricket world cup. Shubman scored 418 runs at an average of 104.50 at the ICC U-19 World cup.
He played a crucial role in India’s record fourth world title and was adjudged the edition’s player of the tournament. His match-winning 102 runs and not out in semi-final against Pakistan U-19 team. In 2019, He debuts into International cricket against New-Zealand.
