She has a sister Ayra Khan. Sara got married to TV actor Ali Merchant,
a Shia Muslim in an Islamic wedding ceremony at Bigg Boss 4 set in 2010. However, they got divorced just after two months in 2011.

The Colors channel denied the matter that it had paid them for the marriage. Colors also said that they got married on their personal wish.
After the divorce, she called the marriage a nightmare. Merchant said that marrying Khan was the biggest mistake made in his life.

Sara Khan is a model and actress. She has won Miss Bhopal title in the year 2007. Before she entered into acting in television, she worked as an anchor in Doordarshan and ETV. She made her debut with the famous Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai (2007-2010) as Sadhna in the main lead opposite Angad Hasija which got telecasted in Star Plus’ for 4
years.
Later she quit the show in June 2010. In 2010 Sara acted in the Zee TV show ‘Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi‘. Her character was Mona where she replaced Priyal Gor.
